About the author

Before joining Quanta, Samuel Velasco was the creative director at 5W Infographics, a firm that specializes in information design and data visualization. Prior to that he was an art director at Fortune magazine, where he designed features and department stories and created infographics. Samuel’s work has appeared in publications such as National Geographic, Scientific American, Smithsonian magazine and The New York Times and has won more than 30 international awards. He is a co-author of the book Look Inside.
